Roberto Cisternino is an Associate Director of Document Engineering Services, an international consortium of experts supporting universal business interoperability through the use of open standards.

Since April 2006 Roberto has been the promoter and co-Chair of the UBL ITLSC (UBL Italian Localization SubCommittee).

Roberto, CEO of Javest (http://www.javest.com), is the creator of "UBL Swinger" the 1st dedicated UBL instance editor for the community.

Over the years, he has acquired significant experience in business informatics for shipping-chain, project management, EDI, analytical accounting, programmed maintenance and logistic support.


Recent Career Experience:

2006 - present: OASIS UBL ITLSC. Promoter and co-Chair of the UBL Italian Localization SubCommittee. Together ENEA (Energy, New Technologies and Environment Italian body) and FTI (Italian Technology Forum) have developed the UBL Italia technology transfer initiative (www.ubl-italia.org).

2001 - present: La Spezia Container Terminal S.p.A., La Spezia (SP) Italy. Senior Analyst Developer, Webmaster, EDI Team member.

2001 - 2005: Spec.Tec. S.r.l., La Spezia (SP) Italy Xantic S.p.A., La Spezia (SP) Italy (actually Stratos). Software Consultant, Integrator.

1999 - 2001: Spec.Tec. S.r.l., La Spezia (SP) Italy. Senior Analyst Developer, Webmaster, SW / HW Support.

1998 - 1999: Ratti & Laghezza Group – Customs Forwarders & Shipping Agents. Software Consultant, Outsourcing, EDI development.


Project Experience:

JAVEST (2006-present):

  • Designed and developed the 1st dedicated UBL instance editor called “UBL Swinger”.

La Spezia Container Terminal S.p.A. (2001 – to date):

  • Extranet development to provide main B2B services for the shipping and transport chain, including Container Track & Trace, Warehouse stock, Vessel Load/Discharge Monitoring, Statistics & Reporting.
  • Design and development of a multi-threaded data synchronizer suitable to keep track of container movements between terminal containers by allowing a cross-terminal Track & Trace System.
  • UN/EDIFact Container and Bayplan messages implementation.

Spec.Tec. S.r.l. / Xantic S.p.A. (2001-2005):

  • Design and development of a PMS (Project Management System) suitable for a distributed international company like Spec.Tec. (later Xantic) to successfully manage projects, resources, breakdowns, cost analysis and invoicing.

Spec.Tec. S.r.l. (1999-2001):

  • Personalization and integration of the AMOS suite (Advanced Maintenance Operative System) with Customer’s accounting and invoicing systems.

Ratti & Laghezza Group – Customs Forwarders & Shipping Agents (1998-1999):

  • Consultancy for Accounting System software migration and LAN update & enhancement.
  • Development of an EDI Services Centre to allow local Customs Forwarders interoperate with the Italian Customs.
